| Born in Des Moines, Iowa, in January 1946, Tom Bochner
spent his youth in the mountains of Colorado and the Midwest prairie.
These sharply contrasting influences, along with a restless spirit
and rebellious nature, helped shape his love of nature and appreciation
for vivid colors.
Bochner came to painting by an indirect route. In his late twenties,
following a successful career in sales, he opened an art gallery
that metamorphosed into one of the more successful commercial
galleries in the Midwest. Through this exposure to the art world,
his latent talent for painting sprung to life.
In 1985 Tom created Bochner Design Group in Tampa Florida. An
artistic endeavor that combined the talents of many emerging artists
from the University of South Florida, whose work he exhibited
at the Artexpo in New York City and Los Angeles for many years.
A major influence of his dramatic painting style was the late
John Beardsley of Yborr City Florida. Tom studied and painted
under the tutelage of Beardsley at his Studio of Contemporary
Art.
Bochner's paintings can best be described as bold, vibrant and
bursting with energy. His medium varies from oil, acrylic, and
mixed media on canvas and masonite. More recently he has merged
his love of painting and digital photography and begun producing
fine art photographs, which he has uniquely translated into the
medium of hand-embellished giclée.
Tom's artistry continues to attract projects for corporate and
private collections around the world.
